NEW FACILITY AT ANDREWS, NORTH CAROLINA - [KRHP] -Western North Carolina Regional Airport
Bipe Inc., has been in business for over 30 years and expanded from a small T Hangar at Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport (FXE) in the 70's and 80's to a hangar complex at Lantana (Palm Beach County Airpark) LNA - in 2002. In 2008, BIPE, Inc. moved to Andrews, North Carolina [KRHP] where they built one of the largest private antique aircraft restoration facilities in the eastern United States. The facility handles three restorations a year plus a paint and cover shop, executive offices, and delivery of EAA workshops in a large and modern training facility. BIPE, Inc. also offers one of the few genuine Apprenticeship Programs in antique aircraft restoration for those wanting to learn the craft.
Bipe Inc's., specialty is the restoration - top to bottom - of Stearmans and other vintage biplanes such as Waco, Great Lakes, and Cubs to their original historically accurate configurations and smooth, hands off flying qualities that make an owner proud. Many of Jerry Stadtmiller's restorations have gone on to become great show planes and one of these planes, owned by Jerry himself, won the attention of artist Sam Lyons, who painted the airplane ("Airshow") which has ended up on coffee mugs, credit cards, mouse pads, puzzles, T-Shirts, coasters, and, of course, hand signed limited edition paintings on collectors' walls.
Jerry Stadtmiller has performed restoration work for the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum in Washington. D.C. His best know project is the Grumman Goose that now sits under the wing of the Concorde in the Udvar Hazy Center near Dulles Airport. In 1995 Jerry was given the prestigious CHARLES TAYLOR AWARD.
